New York: The Outsider Art Fair, produced by Sanford L. Smith & Associates and hailed as “one of New York’s hippest and best contemporary art fairs,” will take place January 26-28, 2007. The Outsider Art Fair is the only fine art fair devoted exclusively to outsider, art brut, primitive, visionary and intuitive art, and features 33 of the finest international dealers.

Roberta Smith, The New York Times, noted The Outsider Art Fair “…gives the New York art world an annual dose of smelling salts.” Each year curators, collectors and enthusiasts gather at The Outsider Art Fair to discover outsider art from an A-list of specialists. Sanford Smith welcomes new exhibitor Galerie der Künstler aus Gugging from Austria and Galerie Susanne Zander from Germany, returning to the fair.

Among the highlights:

Art & Community - Margaret Bodell, New York, presents sculptures by artist Joseph Copeland and a selection of works from the Fountain Gallery, Starlight Studio & Gallery, and League Artists Natural Design (LAND).

Henry Boxer Gallery, Richmond, England, is featuring savant George Widener’s 2006 mixed media on paper entitled Megalopolis. Visitors will also find works by Nick Blinko, Albert Louden, Donald Pass, and Scottie Wilson.

Cavin-Morris Gallery, New York, will display mostly drawings, which include two pieces by Emery Blagdon. They will also be exhibiting new drawings by Chris Hipkiss and a sculpted memorial ship, symbolizing the passing of artist Kevin Sampson’s father. Timothy Wehrle created two new pieces exclusively for the 2007 Outsider Art Fair, one in ink and the other in colored
pencil.

Galerie der Künstler aus Gugging, Gugging, Austria, debuts at the Outsider Art Fair with a special exhibit entitled Gugging, The Next
Generation
featuring works by Günther Schützenhöfer, Karl Vondal (1) and others. The gallery exhibits works by artists who have lived
and worked at the Gugging “House of Artists”. Exhibiting publicly since the 1970s, the artists of Gugging have received international
recognition and continue to show that people with psychiatric disabilities are capable of making profound contributions to society.

Phyllis Kind Gallery, New York, is highlighting the work of artist Charlie Willeto (1897-1964) (2), with over twenty pieces produced over
decades that will express the richness and variety of his work.

of felt appliqué on felt.

Maxwell Projects, New York, is featuring the piece High Posted Bed by Pearl Blauvelt (3) produced in color pencil on lined notebook
paper as well as Brice Bear by Freddie Brice, a self-portrait by Aaron Birnbaum, and artwork by Clarence Swinyer and James Castle.
Luise Ross Gallery, New York, is exhibiting the art of Thomas Burleson, a body of work created over a thirty year period. The gallery
will also be hosting Thomas Burleson’s first major exhibition during the Outsider Art Fair.

Ricco/Maresca Gallery, New York, is including many works of mixed media on paper, including Martín Ramírez’s Untitled (Court Scene) (4) from 1950-52. The gallery is also exhibiting pieces by Morton Bartlett, Sam Dolye, and Vaslav Nijinski.
