Sanford L. Smith & Associates
proudly present the
21st annual Modernism:
A Century of Style & Design November 17-20,
2006 at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street.
Modernism continues to lead the market, providing
collectors with an A-list of dealers not only
noted for stunning and important material, but
for their expertise in the field. Featured are
65 international dealers specializing in late
19th and 20th century design movements such as
Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Wiener
Werkstätte, Memphis, Bauhaus and the 1950s
to 1990.
New this year, Modernism will extend through
Monday, which will be a special events day for
decorators, architects, and designers. The Brooklyn
Museum will host walking tours of the fair guided
by their curators throughout the weekend. Visitors
will see a tighter focus on the later part of
the 20th Century. New exhibitors include Phurniture
(NYC), Connor o Rosenkranz (NYC), Casati (Chicago),
Galere (West Palm Beach), Modernity (Stockholm),
Tony Subal (Vienna), and Kimcherova (NYC).
After two decades, Modernism continues to define
our understanding of the ideas and aesthetics
of the 20th century. The New York Times reviewed,
"'Modernism: A Century of Style & Design'
is not only an excellent show of 20th century
collectibles, but also a rewarding occasion
to ponder what it means to be modern."
International dealers, curators, and collectors
travel each year to the Armory for this museum-quality
exhibition and sale.
The preview of Modernism on November 16th will
benefit The Brooklyn Museum. The Brooklyn Museum/Modernism
Lifetime Achievement Award, Design and Commerce
Award, and Young Designer Award will be presented
during the early preview. Call 718-501-6423
for more information about the preview and to
purchase tickets.
Admission is $15 per day and includes a catalog.
